After a long winter break Zpoony and Page Z are back! And what a return! The simple message of this week's Page Z is to keep fighting and to keep believing. No more, no less.

Når fiktion bliver til virkelighed

Mit manuskript Skovrå finder sted i et realistisk univers, med en del fiktive elementer. Byen Granhjem og den omkringliggende, hyper-voksende skov er fiktiv. Gymnasiet, skovforskningscentret, gaderne, karaktererne. Og ikke mindst bandet Roots, der spiller en væsentlig rolle i historien. Roots spiller mørk, dramatisk emo-metal. I hvert fald i mit hoved. Selv ville de nok sige, at de har for meget kant og tyngde til at få emo-mærkaten på sig. Og nu har dette band faktisk fået deres egen stemme og deres eget liv. Fiktion er blevet til virkelighed og man kan tjekke Roots første single ud her.

Nummeret hedder Into Darkness. Og jeg sender en kæmpe tak til fantastiske Rune Vendler, som har formået at vække Roots til live.

2017 sluttede med afslag og nedtur på forfatterfronten, men 2018 starter med at fantasi bliver til virkelighed. Det er magisk, synes jeg :).

My main manuscript Skovrå ("Forest Wraith") takes place in a contemporary, realistic universe, but with a great deal of fictive elements, obviously. The small town Pinehome and the surrounding hyper-growth forest are fictive. The high school, the forest research center, the streets, the characters. And not least the band Roots that has an important role to play in the story.
Roots play dark, dramatic emo metal. In my head at least. If they were to define themselves, they would probably state that they have too much edge and depth to deserve the emo label. But now Roots has gained a life and a voice of their own. Fiction has become reality and you can check out the band's first single here.
The song is called Into Darkness and I want to say a huge thanks to amazing Rune Vendler, who made Roots come to life.
2017 might have ended on a down note, with a rejection letter and the self-doubt that naturally follows, but 2018 begins with fiction becoming reality. That is quite magical to me :)

Page Z #6 - Rejection Letter

So... for today's "Page Z" I was going to post the below drawing since I recently handed in my re-re-re-edited manuscript to the editor I've been corresponding with for the past year and a half. It's been pretty exciting, since she's from a big publishing house and a deal with them would be an amazing opportunity.

However, a few days ago I got a rejection letter from her. That is fair enough. It is unfortunately part of the game.
And this is what it feels like:

In a few days or weeks I'll stubbornly pick up my pen and continue. Probably that will look something like this:

Merry christmas, good people! This is not the happiest note to end the year on, but even if I'm sad and my vanity is slightly bruised, it's not going to stay that way. Looking forward to a new year with new writing to be done and new stories to be told.
